Moderation Policy

At the heart of Fluttr is the belief that a dating site should be a fun, safe environment for people to express themselves. We believe in treating people online just as you want to be treated in real life. People should be free to connect and interact online in a trusted and safe environment that promotes life, growth, and positivity, rather than negativity and vanity. Just like in real life. Our Moderation Policy is led by this core belief and, to ensure we are leading by example, our moderating is done primarily by humans. Our app will only use automated safeguards for moderation decisions which we have classified as suitable for this type of action. This means a real person will be involved in all the key stages of the process to make sure that any issues are reviewed quickly and effectively to keep everyone safe and happy on Fluttr.

Sex Attacks
Hate Speech

Romance Fraud
Mental Abuse
Physical Abuse

Malicious Advertising
Absence of Privacy
Selling of Data

If you’d like any tips on how to put your best foot forward on Fluttr we’ve created some Rockstar Guidelines to help ensure we all feel the 🥰. In the meantime please read on for some more detailed info on how we moderate our site.

1. Unacceptable Content and Behaviours

We’re all about freedom of speech but there are some things the Fluttr team will not tolerate. Two of our core values are INCLUSION and HONESTY, add KINDNESS into the mix and that’s pretty much the filter system the Mod Team uses to review what members post. Here is a list of absolute no-nos for us:
  • Sexually explicit material
  • Racism
  • Extreme political views and rhetoric
  • Extreme religious views
  • Homophobia, transphobia (prejudice against specific groups such as, transsexual or transgender people)
  • Self-harm or suicide
  • Incitement of violence or violent acts
  • Animal cruelty
  • Child abuse, cruelty or exploitation
  • Promotion of illegal activities
  • Photos or videos of violent acts or scenes
  • Advertising or promotion of content, goods or services outside of the Fluttr ecosystem
  • Abusive or inappropriate language when creating a post or replying to someone’s post -by inappropriate language (by this we mean any sexist, racist, stereotypical, aggressive, abusive or culturally insensitive language).
  • Taking screenshots of images without permission
  • Images that have been altered to degrade private individuals
  • Photos or videos of physical bullying posted to shame the victim
  • Sharing personal information to blackmail or harass people
  • Repeatedly targeting other people with unwanted match requests or messages
  • Posting any photos of a pornographic, exhibitionist, or indecent nature
  • Any use of the Fluttr app in an illegal, dishonest, malicious and/or discriminatory manner
  • Discrimination against disability or disease (we consider a disability to be an impairment of any kind, mental or physical, that makes it harder to take part in certain activities or interact with the world around you)
  • Any form of body shaming
  • Nude or pornographic images that contravene our policies
  • Posting links to malware, viruses or any compromising malicious software
  • Posting overly-specific personal information on your public profile i.e. your home address, mobile/home phone numbers. Feel free to share these with a match privately if you are comfortable with doing so.
  • Posting deliberate, potentially harmful disinformation.
  • Manipulating other people, particularly those who may be vulnerable i.e. encouraging someone to harm themselves or commit suicide.
We know things can get said as a joke but remember, they may not be even remotely funny to other people. In fact, they can be insulting, up-setting and seriously emotionally damaging. ‘Think before you speak’ is a good motto here. At Fluttr we try to remember to put ourselves in other people’s shoes. Another tip to remember is that it’s not always easy to get a meaning across in a quick message and things can easily get misconstrued. And if you use inappropriate language with serious intent to upset someone this will be dealt with accordingly. ** This list is not exhaustive and can be added to or amended at any time** Here is a list of things that we do not consider freedom of speech –
  • Classified info
  • Libel
  • Obscenity– we consider this to be extremely offensive language, behaviour or images that offend someone’s morality.
  • Pornography
  • Trade secrets
  • Incitement – the provocation of any unlawful activity
  • Fighting words
  • Non-disclosure agreements
  • Copyright violation
  • Slander
  • Sedition
  • Perjury
Any posts of this nature constitute a breach of our terms and any Fluttr member found to be in breach will be liable (without prejudice) to deletion of the account from which they originated as well as a ban of their individual identity. This will prevent a banned member from re-joining the community. Please be aware that any behaviour deemed criminal may also be reported to the authorities.

2. Identity Fraud

In order to use the Fluttr app everyone must have a current, valid subscription, complete the ID verification requirements and comply with our terms and any additional requirements. Any attempt to circumvent or trick the identity verification and security features which are intended to protect Fluttr members from fraud, fake profiles, scams and predators will result in immediate suspension of the account pending further investigation. This could also result in the deletion of the account and all of its data depending on the decision of the moderators.

3. Illegal content

Any activity or content posted on the app which is in breach of local or international laws will also be subject to deletion and the account of any linked members may be reported to legal authorities and may lead to further criminal proceedings.

4. Notifications of Misuse

Content and member accounts can be reported using links within the Fluttr app. These notifications will be flagged to human moderators who will take the appropriate action within 24 hours of the issue being raised.

Reporting Content or Members

If content is reported as offensive it will be taken down so that the reportee will no longer see it. This is all done anonymously and the sender will not be told. We believe privacy is paramount and also in people’s right to choose what they find acceptable.

At Fluttr we also believe in open communication with our members and try our best to resolve a problem rather than escalate it. A culture of continual growth and learning is key for all of us in all walks of life. If a member has been blocked or reported they will be told the reason why and we will help try to resolve it to the best of our ablity
